Dev Log #1 - Act 2 Progress

Hi Everyone,

It's been fantastic to see the positive reception of Act 1's release. When I set out to make this novel, I wasn't sure if I would be able to create something that people would like. I can't tell you all how much it means to me to see that people ended up enjoying my twisted little novel. I'm more motivated than ever now to push out more content so you all can enjoy reading Naomi's dark, depraved journey.

Generally,  I'll try to keep the dev logs somewhat short, but this first one will be a doozy so the TL;DR is:

  • Act 1 had minor spell errors and typos that will be fixed with Act 2's release
  • I've separated out the filth fetishes into separate toggles
  • Act 2 development is ramping up great.

Act 1 Typos
Since the release, people have graciously messaged me with minor typos and spelling errors that they found throughout the novel. Thankfully, none of these are terribly egregious to warrant uploading an updated version of Act 1. I've corrected the spelling errors, which will be reflected in the Act 2's release. I've also installed a spell checker on my vscode, which will hopefully prevent silly little spelling errors moving forward. I strive for quality in my writing and I'd hate for spelling errors to pull people out their immersion.

Separating Filth Content

I've received some feedback that people wanted to be able to toggle specific filth fetishes on and off, instead of it being an all or nothing thing. I've already gone ahead and updated the code to do just that. Now, when the lovely assistant greets you, she will offer you the option to toggle each individual filth fetish.

Just as before, in the options menu you'll be able to toggle these on and off at any time. No worries about old save files either, I've coded it such that old save files should either default to all on or all off at the start of Act 2. You'll get a little note from me if you have an old save file, and from there you can use the options menu to toggle your preferences accordingly before diving into Act 2.

ACT 2 Development

I just want to be upfront and honest in saying writing this visual novel is a hobby of mine, not a full time career. I have a full-time job as well as familial obligations, so please understand that I may not keep pace with some of the full time developers out there. With that being said, this novel is my TOP priority as far as my free time goes and I do generally put 20+ hours/week into development. Bringing this novel to life has been a degenerate dream of mine and I'm highly motivated to take it to completion. I've also written the story to be relatively tight and manageable in scope so that this doesn't run away from me. I promise I'll do everything I can to keep content coming at reasonable intervals, even if that means splitting Acts into parts. (Hey, Attack on Titan does it, why can't I?)

Now to get off my soapbox and actually get into specifics!

As of this update, Act 2 has ~1400 words of dialogue, 27 renders, and 7 animations. The start of Acts will be a bit of a ramp up period since I need to set up environments, find assets, pose characters, etc. With that being said, I'm pretty happy with the progress so far.

I've already completed a short, but important scene that starts off the Act with some sinister foreshadowing. The scene also includes some lewd content and I'm pretty happy with how the lighting and animations turned out. When I started this novel, I told myself that I would custom make all the animations and not use HS2's pre-made animations. If I'm being honest with myself, the first animations (Candie and Mistress Peggy), were pretty mediocre at best. Now, I feel like I'm starting to hit my stride as far as creating more natural-looking animations. I hope to continue to improve so I can deliver really hot, sexy lewd scenes for you all.

My goal for each dev log will be to provide one sneak peek render that will hopefully get people amped for the next release. In this one, we see "Teach" staring at a laptop screen. The question is, what is he staring at? What is he thinking? Why is he ruining his eyesight in a dimly lit room?

And with that, I will wrap up this first dev log. I told you it'd be a long one.

Teach looking at his Screen is like seeing an image of yourself while playing the game!

Can't wait for part 2
